A.C. Moore Elementary School, in collaboration with an engaged community, is committed to ensuring each learner achieves his/her potential in a safe, caring, creative, academically challenging and diverse learning environment that will develop productive citizens for a changing world.
Mission Statement
Recognizing that every child is a special individual, the faculty and staff at A.C. Moore Elementary, with support and cooperation from family and community, has a mission to provide a safe and nurturing environment where creative, innovative, and research-based instruction leads to academic excellence, while encouraging life-long learners to become responsible and productive members of society.
School Beliefs
School beliefs were drawn up by members of the staff and community at A.C. Moore Elementary School. It is expected that the students, parents, and staff demonstrate these beliefs in all that is done in school. We believe… • Learning is a life-long process. • In using a variety of instructional methods and approaches. • In character education, life skills, and healthy habits. • In the integration of arts, literacy and technology throughout the curriculum. • The learning process is a shared responsibility between the school and community.
AC Moore Elementary School is an Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Advancement Site.
This grant, provided by the SC Arts Commission, supports ongoing comprehensive planning, strategic projects and implementation of standards-based arts education initiatives, including artist residencies and residency-plus activities. Through our Strategic Arts Plan we have addressed how we will deliver a comprehensive arts education (dance, music, theatre, visual arts and creative writing) to the school population. We have also received the Distinguished Arts Program grant through the South Carolina Department of Education, which is currently being used to build a Creative Arts Technology Lab. Through these grants, our arts specialists and classroom teachers have attended various professional developments on how to integrate the arts into the basic curriculum. Each child at AC Moore Elementary School receives visual art and music classes weekly, as well as the opportunity to participate in dance, drama, chorus, and art club during after-school hours.
